Day 1.- NAIROBI.
Arrival in Nairobi. Meeting with our guide and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.
Day 2.- MASAI MARA.
Breakfast and transfer to Wilson airport to take the AIRCRAFT to the majestic Masai Mara National Reserve, considered the pearl of nature in the country. The plane flight will provide us with a scenic flight over those hills covered by meadows and dotted with acacia trees that will remind us so much of the authentic landscape of Africa in the mythical film “Out of Africa”. Reception at the airstrip and start of the safari. There is no better phrase that describes the experience we offer in the Masai Mara: “the garden of Mother Earth is called the Masai Mara”. An explosion of wildlife and a million and a half wildebeest crossing the mythical Mara River are the objectives for our 4x4 safari days in the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Day 3.- MASAI MARA.
Another day in the Masai Mara National Reserve will allow us to enjoy the rich diversity of wildlife and invite us to lose ourselves in the infinity of its plains to find lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants ... until we reach the banks of the Mara River with its chocolate waters in which hippos frolic a few meters from us. The riverbed of the Mara River is the natural barrier that the large migratory herds of wildebeest and zebra must cross each year that move between the Masai Mara Reserve and the Serengeti National Park, forming a truly overwhelming spectacle, having to save on the river countless crocodiles. In our camp we are in a privileged area to follow in the footsteps of the great migration. We will go on a walking safari through the main crossing points of the Great Migration on the banks of the Mara River.
Optionally, for the most romantic, you can go on a balloon safari flying over the herds in silence at sunrise before landing in front of a champagne breakfast on the savannah, in the most genuine style of the safaris of yesteryear.
Day 4.- SERENGETI.
In the morning, on the way to the airstrip, we will be seen off during the morning safari by elegant giraffes, hippos, wildebeest, zebras ... along the backbone of the reserve: the Mara River. We will take a PLANE from the center of the Masai Mara Reserve to the Serengeti, to enjoy a fully exploited day of safaris in the two reserves. Our 4x4 vehicle does not wait on the airstrip in the heart of the Serengeti NP in Tanzania to continue our safari. This park is the natural extension of the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. There are no fences of both countries in the reserves so they are ignored by animals in their search for fresh pastures. Every year between July and October, about a million and a half wildebeest, 250,000 zebras and half a million gazelles cross, followed shortly by lions and hyenas, pleased by such a concentration of meat. They are the famous Migrations that deliver one of the most breathtaking spectacles of nature. The Serengeti welcomes us these two nights in our RATPANAT SERENGETI SAFARI CAMP, with private bathroom and shower in each tent, in the middle of Seronera, the largest concentration of lions in the world and directly on the path of great migrations. The sensation of distance and savannah is the key to the appeal of our camp, where the elephant and the buffalo may stroll quietly between the tents at night or a hyena ventures to approach from the dark and lie down to listen to the stories that are they count around the campfire. The tents are spacious, with private bathrooms, providing the highest level of privacy, creating a sense of real exclusivity that evokes the Africa of the movies. A hot outdoor shower to take a break from the safari and then the daily ritual to celebrate the arrival of the bonfire before an exquisite dinner roasted or grilled over the orange light of the charcoal embers. And finally, we return to what remains of the bonfire, silent circles to contemplate or simply enjoy, while others are louder, turning into fun get-togethers drenched with a gin and tonic to boost safari stories even juicier. During the night the tranquility of the surroundings is interrupted only by the unusual symphony of the roaring of the lions or the passing of the penitent wildebeest in the great migration. This day we will pass the border procedures to enter Tanzania.
Day 5.- SERENGETI.
Second day in our RATPANAT SERENGETI SAFARI CAMP, in the middle of Seronera, PN DEL SERENGETI. At dawn, optionally for the most romantic, you can go on a balloon safari in which you fly over the herds in silence at sunrise before landing in front of a champagne breakfast on the savannah in the most genuine Out of Africa style. The best safaris, or at least the highest probability of witnessing hunting scenes, take place at dawn, when the savannah is stretched and nocturnal animals are still active, and at dusk. We will dedicate these moments to meet the big five or better known as the “big five”: lions, buffalo, elephants, rhinos and leopards. In addition to these indisputable protagonists, large herds of herbivores appear throughout the year, always alert to the entry into action of a cheetah or a herd of lionesses. We will sleep in the middle of one of the largest wildlife sanctuaries on the planet, we will sleep in the “endless plain”. Its landscapes respond to the mythical image of Africa: large spaces, deep blue skies dotted with clouds, fresh sunrises and fiery sunsets, and at night, a unique array of stars. With private bathrooms and showers in each tent.
Day 6.- NGORONGORO.
Sunrise safari on the way to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We will attentively explore another uniqueness of the Serengeti NP, the kopjes, rock islands in a sea of grass where lions, leopards and cheetahs love to rest high up. And leaving behind the endless plain and if the schedule allows it (the morning safari should be dispensed with), we will optionally visit the Olduvai Gorge, where many fossils and artifacts of the first hominids have been found. All of this is part of the great Serengeti ecosystem and borders the NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA. We will also visit a Maasai Boma or Maasai village to experience first-hand their ancient traditions and way of life in the Ngorongoro area, our next destination for tonight. RATPANAT NGORONGORO SAFARI CAMP, another luxury like that of the Serengeti: being able to enjoy this special accommodation in the Ngorongoro Crater area, also with its own Ratpanat seal. We arrived at the impressive camp hanging over the Crater by road after a day of safari. The arrival is accompanied by the smell of wood smoke. Spacious private tents with absolutely all the comforts of a good hotel is, without a doubt, the modern experience that most closely resembles the first expeditions of pioneer hunters and adventurers exploring an unknown Africa. A sense of unpretentious authenticity is palpable, with huge, handcrafted double beds and flawless white cotton down duvets to ward off chilly nights. A large rear-mounted bathroom, with showers that are suspended cubes in the air. The Ratpanat team is quick to offer guests all the comforts of the safaris of yesteryear: a bonfire, a potent symbol of life in the African bush, which shoots up against the pink of the setting sun, is a palpable sign that the long day of safari is over and it is time to relax, hot water carefully transported to each tent for a well-deserved shower, and finally, a formal dinner, long table set up with great detail, glass, porcelain and illuminated by the light of the candles, and, of course, spiced with safari stories. The camp is made even more spectacular at night by the dozens of lamps that illuminate it and the clink of ice that will accompany a drink as the sun goes down or simply enjoy the wonderful African skies in the dark around the bonfire. Antique safari paraphernalia along with exotic touches are palpable in every corner of this campground. With private bathrooms and showers in each tent.
Day 7.- NGORONGORO.
With the first rays of the sun, we went down in 4x4 vehicles into the Caldera del Ngorongoro for our game drive. No reserve offers such a grandiose spectacle as the Ngorongoro Crater. A volcanic caldera 600 meters deep and more than 20 kilometers in diameter that contains the largest “permanent” concentration of wildlife in Africa. Wild animals and Masai herders coexist here. Spectacular landscape, inhabited by more than 40,000 Masai herdsmen, dominated by the Rift Valley and the nine Ngorongoro volcanoes that were formed more than 4 million years ago. The only one that is currently active is that of Oldoinyo Lengai, the mountain of god for the Masais. The Ngorongoro crater, a giant volcano that in its time was perhaps higher than Kilimanjaro itself, allows thousands of wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, gazelles, lions to graze inside it ... which, unlike in the Serengeti, do not migrate due to the continuous presence of water in the area that ensures their permanent sustenance. And after our unique and exclusive experience inside the caldera of the so-called Eden volcano, we direct our steps towards another majestic EMPAKAI volcano. A Trekking to the Lake of this majestic volcano will put the finishing touch to the day, with thousands of flamingos in their migratory time, it will offer us scenarios of wild nature in a simply perfect day of safari.
Day 8 .- ARUSHA.
A walk through the Ngorongoro ecosystem accompanied by a Masai will help us understand the interesting symbiosis that occurs between tourism and this Conservation area where Masai life and wildlife coexist in total harmony. Transfer to Arusha.
Day 9.- END OF SERVICES.
